Press c takes you to the b25 nose then press shift f1 and the bombsight appears once it has stabilised, the more severe you have manouvred the longer it will take to appear.

Recon photos and some useful practice tonight Thanks all. It isn't easy, but worth the effort I'm sure.

No problems with you editing the mission Majik, good ideas there with the smoke stacks, although there are no factory's by the railhead .

Nice recon shots Meako

Sorry about bailing out on last nights practice run, i was shattered and couldnt keep my eyes open.

Looking forward to tonight.

P.S. there is a couple of bomber only missions on my site that are attacking an airfield

Very useful practice last night, peegees comment about the sight drifting has really helped me. previously i have simply relaid the sight, now i have taken on board peegees comment i am adjusting the TAS speed and have now achieved direct hits each time on the spot aimed at, on this target im gettting between 15 and 18 kills wheras last night i was bombing long.

now just give me a 1000 bombers and i will win the war Muhahaha

Nope .. nearby they are, just thought a bit of smoke might help to aid finding of the target, and add some extra realism
Of course the white smoke on trains is at target
Having said that, from 10k ft, it will not be visible anyhoo

Regarding viz problems, could it be possible for someone to fly 'Pathfinder' at a lower altitude and mark the target area with something eye-catching? I know the IL-2s carry those napalm thingies, do the B-25s or A-20s have something similar? Would involve some tricky Time-on-target flying

I am using the light objects to represent target markers laid by Pathfinders, but none of the objects are visible from a really long distance.

Forget anything I may have said before, TAS is IAS plus 2% per 1,000 feet. So for an aircraft at around 200mph, add 20mph at 5,000 feet, 40mph at 10,000 feet and so on.

Regarding the drift, I have found with repeated testing that there is an oddity. If you trim the aircraft to fly straight, the bombs deflect to one side. The numnber crunching part of Il2 seems to interpret rudder trim as a lateral force. I find the best results are by using rudder trim to line up, then neutralising it, repeating as often as necessary. If rudder trim is neutral when the bombs are released they fall straight - if rudder trim is on they are deflected sideways.

That's fine for us ground pounders, Jimmi. But you know that fighter pilots don't read anything, we need one with pictures You know what it's like... "Where are we going"? "Anyone read the briefing"? "Never mind, just keep climbing..."
